DEBT SECURITIES ARE INVESTMENTS IN LOANS

Investments can be in the form of ownership or loans.  In this tutorial, we introduced you to debt securities.  Debt securities are investments made by lending money to businesses.  These loans may be represented by different kinds of securities.

Some debt securities, such as commercial paper and other money market instruments, are short-lived; others, such as notes and bonds, are long-term.  Knowledge of different types of debt instruments will help you make better investment decisions for your needs and portfolio.
